Are you connected to the tourism/travel/hospitality industries or travel media in any way? If so, please specify how (kindly include any relevant company names/Web sites!).
While my primary interest has always been automotive and I both write for a national newspaper group and edit a handful of glossy motoring titles, one of the benefits of working in that arena has been the need to travel extensively. As a result, I have resided in many of the finest hotels in the world in several countries of the world. This has led me to write travel features on several subjects for a variety of publications.
On which destinations & travel topics can you advise members especially well?
Take your pick around Europe, South Africa, Far East, Middle East and both Canada and North America. Having flown and driven to many destinations, I can report with confidence on the quality of roads, signages, driving standards, road safety and accessibility of venues and holiday spots. I can also relate about food and other aspects of travel both in the UK and abroad.
What destinations are you most interested in learning about?
Australia, New Zealand, South America, China and Russia.
Other travel / language expertise?
As a sometime competitor in international driving events, I have travelled extensively all over Europe and I know fast routes to and from locations and the full range of ferry services for departure from and re-arrival to the UK.

Good afternoon, and welcome to Tripatini! It's great to have you with us -- and we think you'll find our site productive as well as interesting and enjoyable.
To get the most out of Tripatini, we recommend you take a moment to join several of our many groups which you may find of particular use, such as Media Only, United Kingdom, Road Trips, Hotels/Motels, Luxury Travel, Resorts Corner, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Russia, Eating/Drinking the World, our German Language/Culture Club, and plenty of others covering many other topics and most destinations across the globe.
FYI, on your profile you'll see a green bar marked "Text Box," which you can turn into a box containing not just text but also photos and even videos about yourself, your travels, your writing/outlets, and more. And if you have any books in print, we'd be happy to feature them on the site and sell them in our online shop.
Finally, if you would, please be so kind as to spread the word among your travel-interested friends, family, colleagues, associates, and audience. It's fast and easy to use our "INVITE" function above left on the navigation bar to enter e-mails (even your whole list at once!). If you have the opportunity to cover Tripatini in any of your outlets, that would of course be great, and if you might be interested in occasionally blogging for us, guidelines/rates are available upon request.
Thanks much for joining us; we wish you an outstanding start to 2010, and of course we look forward to seeing you online.
