The Best of Costa Rica

Costa Rica is often at the very top of our dream destinations for that vacation that we keep putting off. It seems like a mythical place full of sun and sand that has the ability to take all of our stress out with the tide.

Vacationing in Costa Rica doesn’t have to be as unattainable as many of us imagine it to be. In fact, with the current price of travel- it’s almost as easy as vacationing stateside. Costa Rica has an incredibly rich heritage, and an equally diverse landscape. Go from surfing to scaling the side of a volcano in just a matter of hours- and then relax in one of their world class spas.

It shouldn’t take much convincing to motivate you to pick up your phone, and call your local travel agent. The biggest problem you’ll have in Costa Rica is that there isn’t enough time to experience all of it! Every part of this country holds some sort of appeal, and it really is a good idea to consult with a travel agent who has experience planning trips to Costa Rica. This will help you end up with a vacation that’s specifically tailored to your preferences. Whether you’re interested in spelunking in the Venado Caves, or sailing off of Flamingo Beach in Costa Rica - there’s something to entertain and delight everyone! Consider some of these popular destinations next time you get the travel bug:

Arenal Volcano

Get up close and personal with one of the world’s most active volcanos. You’ll more than likely begin in the small town of Fortuna. There are a variety of different tour options offered to fit nearly any budget.

The volcano itself rises over 5000 feet into the air, and offers glimpses of actual molten lava and rock still flowing from its caldera. The best views are generally captured from the Arenal Observatory Lodge situated on the Northern side of the volcano itself. This is an experience that can set the bar for all future vacations.

Corcovado National Park

Few people in the world ever get the opportunity to walk through an actual rainforest. Corcovado National Park is over 11,000 square miles of one of our most beloved natural wonders. You can follow some of the more visible trails, and experience the real wildlife of Costa Rica.  Expect to see some of the most exotic fauna in the world, while maybe catching a glimpse of the legendary jaguar.

There are guided tours available through the national park that can give you a more controlled overview of the rainforest. This is something that nature lovers can’t pass up!

Flamingo Beach

Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Flamingo Beach has a unique pink cast to its otherwise white sand. This is one of the most coveted sunbathing spots on Earth, and goes a step further when you have the opportunity to sail from it.

Even if you’re not an accomplished sailor, there are companies that can offer you a life changing trip over the ocean. The beach will never be the same again after you see if from the water.

San Jose

Costa Rica’s capital boasts the best of both worlds. Surrounded by a breathtaking natural setting, San Jose has all of the best that any cosmopolitan city has to offer. If you’re someone who appreciates the nightlife, this is the perfect place for you.

The city itself is constructed in a beautiful Spanish Colonial style, and has as much history as some of the more frequented European cities. San Jose is definitely a “must see” for any Costa Rican adventurer.
