Apps, apps, everywhere! Ours is a smartphone-obsessed age, and our smartphones are largely powered by applications for every conceivable use. And travel, of course, is a big category - from planning/budgeting to locations, language translation, guidebooks, and much more. Here are 5 of my most useful favorites:

PackPoint

OS: Android, IOS

It will help you to decide what stuff you need to take for a journey no matter whether you are going for bicycle trip or ski resort. The program will offer you a list of necessary things depending on the type of rest and its duration. You can also edit it and choose your own stuff. The list can be easily shared with your friends.

Hotellook

OS: IOS

It allows you to find hotels around the world and compare their prices. The search results display only places with available rooms. You can view ratings of hotels based on reviews of real visitors.

Advantages:

  • intuitive menu
  • easy search
  • search history is available
  • the hotels can be added to favorites

Disadvantage:

  • only for IOS

GateGuru

OS: Android, IOS

The application will determine your location (i.e. airport) on a spot and provide info about all available institutions. It contains information not only about the nearest cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops but also about terminals, exits, check-in desks and ATMs.

Advantages:

  • easy-to-use search
  • detailed maps
  • rapid access to social networks

Disadvantages:

  • no data about smaller airports
  • no version for tablets

BlaBlaCar

OS: Android, IOS

An app to help find fellow travelers. Everything is thought out: from the safety of the travelers to usability of application. Calculator will automatically calculate the recommended amount of money the traveler needs to take in order to cover his or her expenses.

Advantages:

  • multilingual
  • intuitive interface

HERE
