Terminal 1

Located about 300 meters away from the old building, Terminal 1 is connected by a spacious and air conditioned underground tunnel. This is designed to assist incoming and outgoing travelers. The new section has arrival and departure gates, lounges, duty-free shops, and other amenities. You can check in or go for security screening and passport control for visa issues and baggage collection on arrival. This terminal has a shiny and glamorous look offering comfortable and first class business lounges.

Terminal 3

Opened in 2008 exclusively for Emirates arrivals and departures, Terminal 3 has floor square meterage that make it the second largest building and largest airport terminal in the world. This terminal connects by a section of the Dubai Metro to Concourse 3 built to handle A380 double-tier planes. Passengers upstairs are able to board the plane from the second floor of the Concourse. It significantly speeds up the boarding and disembarking process on these huge planes.

Going through the airport

Traffic at the arrival in terminals 1 and 3 can get overwhelming given the huge volume of travelers served by the airport. Luckily, you can book Dubai Airport fast track for a quick way through this airport. A representative will meet you in the terminal to help you go through all the airport formalities. The company will offer a porter to carry your bags with a wheelchair on request for those who can’t negotiate steps.

Security screening and passport control

Although security screening and passport control is the same like in other airports, booking fast track helps. Apart from saving you the hassle of spending time in the queue, you get some time to relax in a lounge as a company representative handles this on your behalf. You will get some time to freshen up from jetlag and catch some refreshments before making your way out of the airport. In addition, you will get the same complementary service on your return flight from Dubai.

Dubai International Airport concourses

Concourse 1

This was a significant part of Dubai International Airport  before the construction of Terminal 3. Concourse 1 has about 32 air bridges, a business center, 5-star hotel, 28 remote gates, lounges, and restaurants. This is a wonderful place for duty free shopping plus with access to prayer rooms and a medical center.

Concourse 2

Located in Terminal 3, Concourse 2 is exclusively for serving Emirates Airlines passengers. This concourse has about 28 jet bridges with 5 aerobridges with capacity to operate the new A380 Airbus. Concourse 2 has a health club and hotel inside the building.

Concourse 3

Opened in 2000 to serve airlines operating from Terminal 1 until 2016, Concourse 3 now serves Terminal 3 for Emirates Airline travelers. This concourse is about 800 meters long and connects to Terminal 3 through Concourse 2 joined at the southern end. Dubai International Airport  has the largest number of A380 contact stands including 37 Code F gates. Building Concourse 3 was part of the airport plan to enhance its capacity to handle about 118 million travelers by 2023 without significant additional structures.

Getting out of Dubai International Airport

You can order a taxi or hail down outside the airport. The metered taxis are driven by courteous drivers and are reasonably priced. These taxis have cream color with those having pink rims driven by female drivers. Alternatively, you can catch the Metro that runs every 10 minutes from terminal 1 or 3 for convenient and cost effective travel. You can also catch a number of buses arriving and leaving from opposite all the terminals. However, you have to purchase a NOI card from a metro station since buses don’t accept cash.

Conclusion

Dubai International Airport is a marvel to behold. It serves millions of travelers that might make going through come with some hassles. Luckily, you can book a professional agency to help fast track your way through this airport.
