In Uganda, the bwindi impenetrable forest is the sanctuary for almost half the world's population of mountain gorilla's ( about 330 of 600 ), which is the rarest race of mountain gorillas. Established as a safe habitat for several families of mountain gorilla , it is now the location of an an important scientific conservation programme. Uganda gorilla tracking visits are limited to small groups of less than 15 people.
GORILLA TRACKING IN UGANDA
This is the home to nearly half of the only remaining mountain gorillas in Uganda, the world holding about 350 of these rare creatures.
Transfer to Kampala: This is by public bus and there are many companies in this service provision whether from Nairobi Kenya or from any town within Uganda.
Day 1: Kampala-Mbarara.
Drive from kampala to mbarara for lunch, then to buhoma where the park headquarters is. Dinner and overnight at buhoma community rest camp or bwindi view rest camp.
Day 2: Mbarara-Bwindi-Mbarara.
After breakfast, track the gorillas in the forest and this might take some hiking to higher levels of the mountain through stinging plants that require good dressing.It is also cold due to altitude and thicket. Reaching them stay with them for one hour and return to the base camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Mbarara-Kampala
After breakfast, return to kampala with lunch on the way arriving late in the afternoon where the tour ends.
