The city of Jaipur (Pink City) is rich in heritage, culture and architecture. With splendid fortresses, majestic palaces, tranquil temples and beautiful havelis; Jaipur turns out to be an ideal tourist destination. Here is a list of must visit places for your 3 days trip:

  • Raj Mandir Cinema: It is a famous movie theater designed by architect W.M. Namjoshi in Art Moderne style. Known for its large size as well as opulent and meringue interiors, Raj Mandir remains an important part of the tourist circuit in Jaipur.

  • City Palace: City Palace in Jaipur is a blend of traditional Rajput and Mughal architecture bound to leave you awestruck. A vast palace complex that occupies nearly a seventh of the Pink City, this palace was originally built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in 1932. Today, City Palace is known for housing the Chandra Mahal and the Mubarak Mahal, apart from the series of courtyards, sprawling gardens and buildings that populate the complex.

  • Jantar Mantar: UNESCO World Heritage Site and located very close to the City Palace, Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is the largest of five astronomical observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh during the period 1727-1734. Consisting of 14 major geometric devices for measuring time, predicting eclipses, tracking stars in their orbits, ascertaining the declination of planets and determining the celestial altitudes, the observatory is a major attraction for kids and adults alike.

  • Hawa Mahal: Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Singh as a part of the City Palace, Hawa Mahal was an extension of the women's chamber with the purpose of allowing royal ladies to observe everyday life in the street below without being seen. A five-storey high red sandstone structure complete with over 950 windows, Hawa Mahal was made in such a way that the breeze circulates through these windows, giving the palace its name.

  • Nahargarh Fort: Giving brilliant views of the Man Sagar lake and the vast sprawling city of Jaipur, you must see the beautiful Nahargarh Fort that also houses the compact Madhavendra Bhawan palace. It came into popularity even more when portions of the movie Rang De Basanti were shot at this fort. Nahargarh Fort was built with the dual purpose of acting as a summer retreat as well as strengthening the defence ring of Jaipur. The fort also offers some great avenues for taking back picture perfect shots of the Pink City.

  • Albert Hall Museum: Albert Hall Museum, also known as the Government Central Museum, is one of the oldest museums of Jaipur and retains the essence of the Maharajas of Jaipur. The museum houses a number of courtyards, archways and towers standing as a symbol for rich architectural heritage of the country. The Museum displays several miniature paintings along with portraits of the royal kings displayed on the first floor of the museum. Other valuable artworks include metal artwork, carving and huge jewellery collection with some brass articles. Other Specialities of the Albert Hall Museum's display include wood works, refined carvings, clay wares and traditional dresses of the various kings.

  • Birla Mandir: Built completely in shining white marble, the temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and his consort, Goddess Lakshmi and revels in utmost peace and serenity, making for a great experience. Rising from the serene, lush green gardens, the temple is a complete treat for the eyes and acts like a balm to your very soul. The temple's beauty takes on an all new level of majesty every evening after the sun sets. The lighting comes on and it seems as if the temple is basking in its own divine halo.

  • Sisodia Rani Garden: It is a beautiful palace garden lying 6 km from Jaipur city. It consists of tiered multi-level gardens with fountains, watercourses and painted pavilions along with a charming double storeyed palace that occupies the top terrace of the garden. The palace also has many galleries, pavilions and beautiful murals depicting scenes from the life of lord Krishna.
  • Galtaji Temple: Galtaji Temple is a beautiful structure wedged between two hills. Consisting of various temples and kunds, Galtaji has been a retreat for Hindus since the 1500s. It is said that Sant Gailav spent his life here, meditating and doing his tapasya. The main temple here is the Temple of Galtaji, a marvellous structure in pink stone. Not only is this temple known for its warm spiritual embrace, but its carved pillars, intricately painted walls and rounded roofs are a treat for the eyes as well. Some temples are even carved into the hill, bound to leave you amazed. Due to the large number of monkeys around the place, the temple is also sometimes referred to as the Temple of Monkeys.

  • Jal Mahal: Standing tall in the middle of the Man-Sarovar Lake, Jal Mahal in Jaipur is a beautiful structure that was built in the 18th century. Reflecting a 'Rajputana' style, it was constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber. It's interesting to note that you can take a boat ride to this Mahal, sitting elegantly in the handcrafted wooden boats. These boats have been nicely done by the skilled boat makers of Vrindavan. Whether it's the fragrant Chameli Bagh or decorated chambers and hallways, you can explore this place the way you want. Also, you can view ancient forts and temples along with the Aravalli hills that make up for this place's likeability. And, if bird watching interests you, then you will definitely get a chance to spot Pochards, Coot, Kestrel, Flamingo and many other interesting species over here.

  • Amer Fort: A fort-palace complex built in hybrid Hindu-Muslim style that dates back to the 17th Century. Situated on a hilltop, overlooking the Maota lake, this attraction on the outskirts of the city is known for its imposing gateways and cobbled pathways. The Diwan-e-Aam situated inside the Amer Fort is a beautiful example of architecture in red sandstone and marble. Sheesh Mahal in the same complex is another aesthetic treat, specially so when it sends away darting rays of sunlight reflected by the thousands of glasses. The most interesting aspect of this complex is the Sukh Niwas, where an air conditioning effect was created in the ancient times by air blowing through cascading cool water. Do not miss the Amber Light Show in the evenings which is a treat to the eyes. Very recently, a 325 metre long, 18th century tunnel which connects Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort was opened to public after renovation and excavation. This is a major tourist draw these days. For the sake of the elderly, golf operated carts are run along this tunnel to make seeing both the sites easier.

  • Jaigarh Fort: Often called the best fort in all of Jaipur, the Jaigarh Fort features amongst the most well preserved monuments of medieval India. Jaipur was a major region of weapon production during the Mughal times and you can see the specimens of this artillery when you visit the museum inside the fort. This fort was constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh II to protect the Amer Fort in the occurence of an invasion. Best known for housing the world's largest cannon, the Jaivana, which was test-fired only once, Jaigarh Fort is another magnificent example of fine architecture in Jaipur. Two very tempting reasons to visit the fort are the beautiful gardens and the spellbinding views of the Amber Fort and the hills around. This massive structure spans close to 3 km and is about 1 km wide, and houses the Lalit Mandir, Vilas Mandir, Lakshmi Vilas and Aram Mandir. You can visit it with Amer Fort via tunnel connecting both the forts.

  • Chokhi Dhani: Chokhi Dhani Village in Jaipur is a beautifully landscaped area, spread over 10 acres, dotted with machaans & platforms where different folk artists perform concurrently. A village fair is hosted every evening displaying the rich & wonderful cultural heritage of Rajasthan. Buy some pretty stuffs from the national art and craft market or simply walk around the museum displaying Rajasthani village culture and before moving out, get yourself clicked in the traditional look at their photo studio.
