Spain as a key European holiday destination lures many travellers to its top leisure resorts. To get there, many tourist choose car hire as an airport - hotel transportation. Here is what you should think of before you pick up your car.

1. Car size
Travelling alone or with your family? Mini/economy car goes well for single/partner trips. You will find it large enough for your luggage. Family with kids? We would suggest to search for compact class and up. Estate cars can fit all your family members and your luggage. You may also book child seats for precise age and weight of your children. You will be charged for all extra equipment locally and you may check the local fees on Auto Europe website before you book.

2. Insurance
Car hire in Spain may be tricky. Always check the insurance option, either 'no own risk' or offer that includes a car damage waiver - verify what is actually covered by that insurance. Usually, windows and tyres are not included, so locally you may be asked to purchase an extra cover.

3. Fuel option
Major rental companies offer full to full fuel option - this is the easiest option - you pick up the car with a full tank and return it full. Some local companies offer for 3 days and longer rentals prepaid fuel option - you pay for the fuel at the pick and return the car empty, as there are no refunds for unused fuel. Suppliers' fuel fees differ from the local gas stations. If you need the car for more than 3 days, it is worth booking more expensive rental with one of the international companies with full to full option to avoid high fuel fees.

4. One ways
You won't find it on-line and you pay it locally, so it might come as a surprise if you do not read your voucher carefully. It is best to call Auto Europe's toll free number to check the one way fees. Sometimes there are no fees at all with the larger companies. What first may seem as a more expensive option, in the end may turn out to be the cheapest one that already includes fuel and one way fees.

All those aspects are important to check before you leave. Auto Europe agents will help you choose the best deal tailored to your needs. Call our free number 0800 358 1229 for advise and best prices.
