Foodies Trip to Agra and Jaipur

For foodies like me, the best way to learn about a community is through its food and till date I have tasted more flavours than I can remember; all of them beautifully speaking a story of their own, telling their tales of origin and how they were transformed over the years.

This time, my search for a tasteful exploit took me to two of the three places of the famous golden triangle- Agra and Jaipur. And my, what an experience it was! The city is a true burst of colours and flavours and had everything up its sleeves to keep me satiated throughout the visit. Here get a glimpse of my Jaipur and Agra Itinerary 2 days!

I took off to Agra from Delhi on my first day from 2 days in Jaipur and Agra, which is a mere 3 hours ride from there. I took a stop at Taj Mahal which is a must see in Agra in 2 days. Since it was a foodies detour, I instantly geared up to check out the street foods first. For once, being the rebel that I am, I chose to skip the most popular parathas of Ram Babu Paratha Bhandar and instead went for Mama Chicken in Sadar Bazaar for some nice lip smacking Shami Kebabs feed. The place is one helluva one! And constantly bustles with the young folks. Meandered a little further in chat gali and was welcomed in a world of quintessential Indian food with tikki chaat, golgappas and bhel. The desi yoghurt with homemade tamarind sauce and spiced up water will have you hooked the moment you come here.

Once all the destinations were checked off, I decided it was time for some sweet indulgence and went for famous Agra Pethas. I was surprised with their range of pethas (including Kesari and Pan flavoured Pethas) and tried every one of them. They were delicious! I ended the trip at the Mughal Room with a nice heartfelt platter of Mughlai Kebabs. There are many luxury and 5 star hotels in Agra as well, in case you wish to have a lavish dinner. You can also make the best of Agra in 2 days by indulging in its range of dishes and delectables.

Agra had been an amazing host, but my next stop was waiting for me and hence I left for Jaipur the next day. I had my list of popular Jaipurian food with me and I was ready to nail the trip! Just like before, I started with the street vendors selling typical Rajasthani delicacies Tikiya Chhole, Pethas, Jaipur Kulfi and Lassi. You seriously need to have some good self-control to stop yourself from overeating (they were that amazing!). But since I had more to taste, I went ahead to some popular other Jaipur food joints to explore. The Daal Baati Churma at Rawat Mishthan Bhandar was bliss. I can come here again and bet won't be tired of it. Of course, you can't leave Rajasthani style Pani puri which is best made here in Chawla's and Nand's. Since Jaipurian food is mostly comprised of vegetarian, I wanted to see what else could I get here in the Non-veg department and my, that had been a thorough surprise for me. I went to Sethi's for a chicken tikka rendezvous and after that, at Sanjay's for a nice omelette porch. The foodie inside me then craved for some sweetness and I decided to stop by at Jal Mahar to have a nice faluda.
