Tour itinerary for 13 days / 12 nights in the southern parts of Ethiopia

On this trip:

- You will visit / explore Arba Minch which is surrounded by Rift Valley Lakes, Lake Abaya to the north and Lake Chamo to the south.


  In Arba Minch there are 40 springs together in one place; the town Arba Minch got its name from the forty springs (“forty springs” its Amharic meaning is Arba Minch).


-You will have boat trip on Lake Chamo where you will see crocodiles, hippos and water birds.


-You will visit the people of Dorze who live in the high lands; they are famous for their bamboo houses.


-You will admire the Konso people for their ingenious terracing system and agrarian culture; walls that encircle their villages for protection.


- You will visit the Tsemay tribes, the Arbore tribes and their villages, the Hamer tribes in Turmi and their dances, the Geleb / Dasanech people at the bank of the Omo River, the Karo people in Murulle (the Karo adorn their bodies with different paintings), the Mursi tribes (the women are known for their lip plate), the Ari people and much more.
On this trip, you will also visit birds of different species and mammals.

 

Day 1: Up on arrival in Addis Ababa airport you will be welcomed and given transfer to hotel. If the time allows, after you take rest in the hotel; you will have city tour of the capital Addis Ababa and you will visit National Museum, Trinity Cathedral church, ethnographic museum, Mercato and Mount Entoto. Day 2: Drive to Langano via Butajira road to visit Tiya(standing engraved stele, believed to have been erected between the 12th and the 14th centuries and are grave markers), Adadi Mariam (a rock hewn Church which is said to have built by king Lalibela on his visit to mount Zequala). Over night Langano in a lodge

Day 3: Drive to Arba Minch, on the way along the road visit the Alaba, Wolayta and Gamo people; on this day it is also possible to visit the Dorze people & their house at a place called Chencha before you arrive in Arba Minch. Over night Arba Minch in a lodge

Day 4: In the morning visit Netch Sar National Park and in the after noon boat trip on lake Chamo to visit the hippos and crocodiles. Over night Arba Minch in a lodge

Day 5: Drive to Turmi, on the way visit the Tsemay and Erbore tribes. Over night Turmi in a lodge

Day 6: Drive to Omo rate to visit the Geleb people. For over night drive backto Turmi. Over night Turmi in a lodge

Day 7: Drive to Jinka, on the way drive and visit the Karo tribes in Murele known by their body painting. Over night Jinka in a hotel

Day 8: In the morning drive to Mursi (tribe with lip plate) via Mago national park; after eating your lunch in Jinka, in the after noon, you will visit one of the villages of Ari people and the Museum in Jinka. Over night Jinka in a hotel

Day 9: Drive Yabello, on the way visit one of the villages in konso. Over night Yabello Motel hotel

Day 10: Drive to “Elsode” a deep crater where the Borena people extract salt and stop at Dublock. Over night Yabello in a hotel

Day 11: Drive to Awasa via Yabello; on the way visit the green and coffee growing areas of Yirgalem and Dilla. Over night Awasa in a hotel

Day 12: On this day morning, you visit the fish market in Awasa, and then you will drive back to Addis Ababa. Over night Addis Ababa in a hotel
