Whether if it’s your first or tenth time, a visit to Dubai always brings a sense of joy and ends up being a mesmerizing experience. With all its fascinating modern buildings, awesome beaches, beautiful man-made islands, and massive malls, Dubai still maintains its rich culture, traditions, and heritage. From the desert safari to simply enjoying a musical evening at the world’s largest dancing fountain, there’s a lot to see and do here. Here are the top half dozen musts:

The Dubai Mall

Located on downtown's Financial Centre Road, this is home to more than 1,300 retail outlets (including anchor department stores Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdales) and more than 200 places to eat and drink, such as the Rainforest Café and scores of international - and of course Middle Eastern - restaurants. There are plenty of entertainment options, as well, such as a virtual reality park; 22 movie screens; the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo; an ice rink; an "edutainment" zone for youngsters called KidZania; a haunted house; and several five-star hotels.

The Burj Khalifa

If today's Dubai has a symbol, it's probably this, the world's tallest building. At its ‘At the Top’ observatory on the 124th floor, you can see for miles - the beautiful desert from one side and the city and Gulf on the other. There's also a rooftop pool club and a lounge (with outdoor terrace) for light fare, drinks, and live entertainment.

The Dubai Fountain

In Burj Khalifa Lake and part of the Dubai Mall, this is considered the world's largest fountain its waters dance to the tunes of melodious Arabic music, surrounded by beautiful lights with changing colors synchronized to the water's movements. Make sure to come early as the sun sets to grab the best possible seat, as the Dubai Fountain tends to attract a lot of spectators.

Dhow Cruises

Dhows are traditional Arab sailing vessels, and here in Dubai a number of them have been adapted and even purpose built to offer sightseeing and dinner cruises out of Dubai Marina and Dubai Creek. They're a fantastic way of seeing the emirate's mesmerizing sights from the water and enjoying delicious international cuisine as well as live entertainment.

Desert Safaris

Turning away from the water and toward the majestic dunes of Dubai's hinterland, a number of tour operators also offer daytime, evening, and overnight excursions with various activities include 4x4, quad biking, camel trekking, and traditional falconry. Delicious meals are served in traditional tents, all adding up to a truly memorable experience.
