Enter the Town of Kamala

Typically, when you visit Phuket, you will arrive in the town of Kamala. This beautiful beach town is dotted with recently renovated cottages. Near the beach, you will find plenty of bars, as well as food stalls with Thai cuisine.

Shortly after arriving in Kamala, you should take a stroll along the beach. Make sure that you check out the Chef Roti Stand. You can get a crepe-like roti with a Thai twist. It is filled with egg and fruit and then topped with a small amount of condensed milk.

View a 147-Foot Buddha

After getting your refreshments in Kamala, you should head over to the town of Chalong. Follow the red and white signs that point you towards the top of Mount Nagakerd.

As you approach, you will begin to see parts of the 147-foot tall Big Buddha. This is truly a marvelous site, even though it is still being constructed. Along with the humongous Buddha statue, you will get a great view of the Andaman Sea.

Authentic Thai Cooking

You will need nourishment after taking the trip to see the Buddha. You could head back to the town to find authentic Thai cooking. Near the boardwalk of the Royal Phuket Marina, you can enjoy a wide range of delicacies, including lobster ravioli and curried fried rice with seafood.

Ride an Elephant

You could relax with a short 30-minute elephant ride. There are a few different safari companies in Phuket that offer affordable elephant rides. If you feel that a 30-minute ride is not long enough, then you can pay more for a fullhour ride.

Tour the Jungle

Nearby you will find a wildlife sanctuary that gives you the perfect opportunity to explore the jungle. Non-profit organizations organize tours through the rainforest. Watch gibbons and other animals in their natural habitat. One of these tours will take you to the Bang Pae Waterfall, where you can cool down with a quick dip in the water.

If you are a fan of original art, then you will want to visit the small town of Rawai. This town is located near the southern tip of the island and has a large community of local artists. There are numerous galleries, street vendors, and talented art for you to browse.

Towards the end of the day, visit Phuket town to find fresh grilled fish balls, barbecued pork buns, and other delicious meals for dinner. Most of these stalls have incredibly affordable prices and give you large servings. You will quickly fill up and be ready for the next stage of your trip.

 Watch Muay Thai Boxing

While your dinner is settling in your stomach, travel to the Suwit Stadium to watch real Muay Thai boxing. You can catch a fight on Friday nights and may occasionally find a fight other days of the week.

These boxing events are major draws for tourists and locals. You will be entertained with dances and music, along with a variety of fights. They typically start with younger fighters and work their way up to the main fight card.
