1. D’Souza Chawl Mahim in Mumbai

People time and again have claimed to see a strange apparition of a female who in the past had fallen into the well while fetching water from it. Locals and residents have confirmed that the spirit is absolutely harmless and had never caused problems to anyone. But it is simply horrifying to know that her shadow is following you at night. Many say that she can utter names of her followers and even ask for things.

2. Bhangarh Fort in Rajasthan

This is the place where a magician fell in love with the beautiful Bhangarh princess, Ratnavati. He captured the heart of the princess through black magic. The magician casted a spell on oil that princess' maid bought the local market. Princess saw this and immediately threw the oil away. In a fit of anger, the magician casted a curse on the place, saying ‘all those who reside this place will die’. People started dying and the place is abandoned, since then.

Interestingly, it is the only place in India acknowledged as haunted by the government. According o locals, anyone who dared to stay post sunset never made his way home from the fort. Although the lush green expanse and ruins make for a picture perfect visit, you never know! Someone may just hold you from the back and dig his blood thirsty teeth on your neck! Beware!!!

3. Lohaghat in Uttarakhand

Earlier an ordinary town situated on Abbott Hill, the owner of this fort lived in a bungalow named ‘Abbey’. Later on, it was converted into a hospital post his death. A doctor started working in this hospital in the mid 1900s and became popular for his accurate death predictions. Each morning, he would prepare a list of patients who would die with precise timings. He would also move these patients to a special room named Mukti Kothri. It is not clear whether he was a murderer or a gifted predictor.
However, the spirits of those dead are still present here. Locals believe that the place is incapable of thriving due to the presence of spirits.

4. Down Hill, Kurseong in West Bengal

You must have heard about Kurseong. It is a picturesque soothing hill station. However, the Down Hill region here is labeled eerie due to the horrifying tales related to it. Locals have confirmed it as an abode of spirits and have even heard their footsteps. Additionally, a lot of mysterious killings have occurred here. No one knows the truth behind these murders. Tourists have also experienced abnormal and haunting incidents here.

5. Malcha Mahal in Delhi

If you are planning a trip to Delhi, consider visiting Malcha Mahal (not for the weak hearted). It is a huge property won by Wilayat Mahal, Princess and granddaughter of Nawab of Oudh. She had to go through a legal tussle with Indian Government for the same. She also lived here with her children for sometime. Unfortunately, depressed with the hardships of life, she committed suicide in the year 1962. The children stayed in the property with over twenty hound dogs. They have completely cut off all connections with outside world. People trying to visit the area have vanished mysteriously. No one including the local guards enter the area.

6. Tunnel Number 33 in Shimla

The construction of this tunnel was started by Colonel Barog, a British Engineer. However, for some unforeseen circumstances, he couldn't complete it on time. The authorities charged Barog with a fine of Rs. 1 (a hefty amount at that time). Unable to suffer the humiliation, the engineer committed suicide by shooting himself. It is believed that the ghost of Barog lives in the tunnel. Although this ghost doesn't harm anyone, it does like to chat with passers by and even asks for a lighter. People have also reported instances of a horrifying lady ghost screaming around the tunnel.

7. Dumas Beach in Gujarat

Earlier, a ‘Hindu Burial Ground’, the site is believed to be attacked by many melancholic spirits on a frequent basis. This is not all! Many individuals are said to have mysteriously disappeared from the beach. Nobody knows how, where, and when. Many people have also experienced paranormal activities in the area. Locals have a lot of terrifying tales to narrate.

8. The Lambi Dehar Mines in Mussoorie

Located right on the edge of Mussoorie, The Lambi Dehar Mines were originally abode to quarries of lime and strip mines. One ill fated day during the 1900s, more than fifty thousand workers lost their lives due to an accident in the mines. Later on, the locals reported many scary instances such as vehicles suddenly falling off the mountains and even going off the road. People soon abandoned the houses forever. Legends have it that a witch roams about the mountains and screams loudly!
