What's the safari scene in Botswana like? Check it out in the excellent safaris overview on the Tripatini blog this week: http://bit.ly/1PrM5y.

Now is a great time to travel to Africa. Many airlines are having special airfares that have to be ticketed by September 24, but are good for travel through January 6, 2010. If you’ve been thinking about going to Africa—whether on a safari, a cultural trip, searching for your roots, or any purpose—this is the best airfare we’ve seen in a long time.

Welcome to Kalahari Summer, Botswana’s definitive green season (1st December 2009 – 31st March 2010) promotion. Visit http://www.kalaharisummer.com/ for 14 participating lodges and camps.
Celebrate the incredible value for money and the spontaneous celebration of nature that is summer in Botswana.

It's been 11 years since I went camping in Botswana, but what a trip! Among the most memorable travel experiences I've had: pitching our tent in the bush -- no game park, no fences, nothing between us and the wild animals -- in the Okavango Delta. And a cool, starry night sitting around a campfire with the San (Bushmen), who told told tribal stories and legends. We had no idea what they were saying, of course, but it was magical (especially for a former linguistics student!) to hear them speaking their clicking language. I would go back in a minute.
