In the French Alps there are a pair of small towns nestled close to the border with Switzerland that have become increasingly popular destinations for bicycle tourists and their families. These destinations have not changed much for the last twenty years, and because they are outside the normal run of skiing and snowboarding holiday-makers, they remain one of the most popular tourist destinations for those who want to dedicate their time to bike riding. As these towns are so small, accommodation will be different to the mainly tourist-focused towns which offer skiing and other winter sports. There are a few different types of accommodation to choose from.

Les Gets and Morzine hotels

Hotels provide the smallest amount of accommodation available in Les Gets, as the town actually only has a limited number of hotel rooms available. These can be expensive, but if you want to relax completely while you are away, and not have to do a thing, then you may choose to rent a hotel in Les Gets, or in the nearby town or Morzine. Hotels are not the most popular type of Les Gets biking accommodation because it can be rather restrictive about times of entry and departure, and there may be some walk from the hotel to bike parks or bike sheds in the hotel grounds.

Let Gets Chalets

Far and away the most popular type of holiday accommodation in the Les Gets area is the chalet. These are often self-catering, and usually also require you to keep them clean, so if you are prepared to rent a room and then behave as though you were living in the area full-time, then you will enjoy the chalets. A lot of this type of accommodation is specially designed for mountain bike riders, so there is space to clean off the bike after a run, and also safe places to store your equipment during the night. Many chalets will also be positioned close to major bike tracks or route ways, so you don't have to go too far in order to begin your next bike ride.

Rented accommodation

For those who don't mind small areas with little space to keep a bike or equipment, it is sometimes possible to rent out rooms in the town itself. These will be cheaper than the other Les Gets biking accommodation options offered, but you will have to accept greater inconvenience, possibly noise, and certainly lack of facilities for your bike. Sometimes tourists may choose to use this option when they are travelling into Les Gets for a short stay prior to bringing their families over for longer trips, but most biking tourists choose to rent either chalets, or to book a room in a hotel.
