Now that we’re halfway through October, this seems as good a
time as any to take stock of Travel Trends, and to see where the travel industry was around this time
last year. As always, this will help you get a good gauge of what’s going on,
as well as try to predict where you might land yourself a great travel deal.

September’s top 10 domestic travel destinations were:

  1. DEN-Denver
  2. DFW-Dallas
    Fort Worth
  3. FLL-Ft
    Lauderdale
  4. JFK-New
    York Kennedy
  5. LAS-Las
    Vegas
  6. LAX-Los
    Angeles
  7. MCO-Orlando
  8. PHX-Phoenix
  9. SEA-Seattle/Tacoma
  10. SFO-San
    Francisco

Denver! Apparently a lot of folks were gearing up to see
Peyton Manning suit up at Mile High Stadium. Or, you were preparing for the
Great American Beer Festival. Either way, things seem a little less popular
now, as passengers have dropped by 14.15% since 2012, and ticket prices have
risen by 7.07%. This actually marks the biggest drop in percentage on the list,
followed by Orlando with a decline of 12.98%. Similarly, Orlando ticket prices
increased by 8.26%.

If you’re looking for a better deal this year than last year
– you might have a bit of trouble. The travel industry saw an increase on
tickets to each of the top 10 destinations listed above. The gentlest decrease,
however, was good old Seattle, which rose from $469.34 to $469.82 – or a 0.10%
bump in price. Meanwhile, Seattle remains as popular as ever, with a passenger
increase of 14.16%.

For those looking to avoid a big hit to your budget, it might be wise to avoid some of the more
popular coastal cities. San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City all saw a
significant price increase (9.45%, 9.89%, and 13.68% respectively).
Interestingly, however, despite the increase in ticket prices, Los Angeles
doesn’t seem any worse for wear. It’s actually showing our largest passenger
increase of any of the top 10, with a boost of 17.38%.

As always, keep these travel trends in mind the next time
you need to book a trip. And if that time is now, we’ll just leave you an easy
way to book cheap flights.
