Travelers are often found in a trance staring at the very unique and stunning landscape of Guangxi Province, China. Described by some as a rare kind of paradise where plush green mountains dot the winding Li and Yulong Rivers. The cities that hold the most breathtaking views are located in Guilin and Yangshuo.

Guilin is a bustling city that was built up around many mountains and hills, the most famous and remarkable being Elephant Trunk Hill. Created completely by nature, this hill got its name for its unusual shape which looks as if an elephant is leaning down to take a sip from the Li River.

Further downstream sits Yangshuo. There are daily buses that go to Yangshuo, but a much more relaxing and scenic option is the Li River cruise. The deck top is often crowded with excited tourists snapping pictures as the mountains become more and more dense and the views become much more dramatic as the boat travels south.

At first glance stepping off the boat and onto Yangshuo Port, it looks like another busy city But there are plenty opportunities to get off the beaten track. One excellent option is renting a bike for a day. It is very feasible and offers travelers a chance to get out of the crowded city and cross paths with the locals. Cycle past local farms, plentiful mandarin trees, chickens, and maybe even a water buffalo or two.

Whether travelers wish to spend a relaxing vacation in this beautiful environment or venture around hiking, biking, or rock climbing.
