The Great North

The North and other regions close to the poles are cold. It’s a reality of life everyone has been taught since they were young. With that comes a lot of misconceptions and judgments about the far north. There is, however, little to no truth in these thoughts. You can book a flight to go sightseeing there to see for yourself and use this webpage to do so, or you can read on to find out more about the wonderful world up in the north.

A Brief Overview

Norway is part of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Like most of the countries farther from the equator, the country is significantly colder than usual. Most people think that it is a barren wasteland of tundras, with no crops or other plants that are able to grow on the land. Most people also see this region as a region with so much sunlight and so much darkness at a given time. The northern part of Norway can experience a so called midnight sun, when the sun is in the sky for 24 hours in the summer.

Why is Norway Great?

Norway is considered as one of the happiest places on Earth, according to the United Nations’ World Happiness Report on 2013. This report is based on a lot of factors, including but are not limited to life expectancy and health, freedom and social support. Since people are happy with the way of living they have, there is also little to no crime rate. The murder and incarceration rates are also incredibly low. You can even wander anywhere without being arrested for trespassing, as long as the land you’re stepping foot on is not yet cultivated or developed. This is because of a law called allemannsrett, which literally translates to all men’s rights. Besides the Scandinavian Mountains, there are also a lot of breathtaking landscapes you can use to make photo ops, or even just take photos of the scenic view of nature itself. Urban spaces in Norway are lush with greens and trees, so pollution isn’t really a problem. In Oslo, Norway’s capital, the city is in forested hills that it is considered as a concrete jungle in the most literal sense of the world. If you are more adventurous, you can take a hike in the mountains, sail through the fjords with a tour group, or even experience Norway’s rich culture with its seasonal delicacies. Norway also gave birth to a popular and fun winter activity: skiing. All in all, Norway is such a beautiful place to go to spend your vacation days in.
