Eca de Queiroz was a well-known Portuguese writer from Baião, and every year the foundation receives more than 7,000 visitors. Visitors are invited to see the personal belongings, furniture, books and house of the writer. Queiroz was a novelist and was inspired by the natural beauty of Baião.
Another half-day program takes you to the Aboboreira mountains to discover the footprints of prehistoric human civilization. The municipality of Baião together with the support of national government preserves a good collection of monuments.
Different types of rural lodging facilities are available in the form of old aristocratic manses and farmhouses. Most of these houses are well equipped with swimming pool, mini bar, and many other facilities. However, tourists don´t need to pay a fortune to rent one of these houses; rates vary between 50€ to 100€. At the same time, it is a must to book as early as possible.
