My Story Blog on Laos

Hello,

I have been posting a story blog on Laos for the last couple of months.  I post every 10 days or so.

These posts, with videos and photographs, can be found at my site, www.laolatitudes.com

This is not a travel or trip blog , as with lots of  travel blogs.  I have nothing against those "trip blogs," 'been there and saw that," sort of thing. There is a need for those type of blogs.  I have another objective.

I am trying to tell the stories of how individual Lao people lead their daily lives. My hope is that those individual stories will collectively give the reader some pleasure and an idea of what Laos is all about.

Here are a couple of quick links to two very recent posts that should give you some idea of what I am trying to do.

Lao Buddhism: Novice Alex Tries to Get his Robes on Right, July 24, 2011 http://laolatitudes.com/lao-buddhism-novice-alex-tries-to-get-his-rob

Most travel blogs, including the very best, are all about Me--what I saw, thought and did.

Lots of good reasons for telling it that way.

I want to do it another way-- tell it from the Lao side of the road.

I have no altruistic motives for wanting to tell the story of Laos that way.

It just seems the logical way to go about it.

What strikes me as so extraordinarily different about Laos is the bewildering optimism of the Lao people, surely one of the unluckiest people on the planet. That is the real story of Laos.

All the best,

Paddy
