Interesting points related to Dubai travel

Dubai is one of the seven Arab Emirates, a country located on the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East. Dubai has developed enormously in recent years as a tourist destination. Although Dubai initially primarily presented itself as a luxury travel destination, holidays to Dubai now fall within the budgets of a larger group of people. The increase in cheap airline tickets and hotel rooms has made Dubai accessible to a wide audience. Not for nothing that Dubai has become a hugely popular winter sun destination. Every year tens of thousands of Dutch people fly to beautiful Dubai to enjoy the wonderful climate in winter and the luxury that you can proverbial here. We write expressly "can", because even those who want to enjoy Dubai with a lower budget can have an excellent holiday here. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy Dubai without having to pull the cut. On the other hand, those who do have a large budget and wish list can be pampered to the extreme in Dubai.

A first introduction

When I first arrived in Dubai, it was not the metropolis that it is today. My first time was in 1997, when there were only a few hotels on Jumeirah Beach such as the Hilton, the Sheraton and the futuristic Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Burj Al Arab was still the future and the places where nowadays immense projects such as Dubai Marina and Burj Khalifa could be found were desert. Over the years I have seen the city grow to what it is today on more than twenty trips to Dubai. People who had not been to Dubai for twenty years and would now travel to Dubai would not recognize much of it. Only the old neighborhoods Deira and Bur Dubai still largely resemble what they looked like some twenty years ago.

People who have never been to Dubai sometimes ask what they can expect. A question that is not easy to answer because Dubai travel is so unique that you cannot easily compare it with other cities. Dubai is primarily an Arab city, but more people live and work there than Arabs. The composition of the population and visitors has become so diverse that there is actually a multicultural society. Although you are dealing with some Islamic norms and values, people in Dubai are much more open-minded than in all surrounding countries and emirates. The projects realized in Dubai are sometimes even more impressive than you can imagine on the basis of stories, photos and videos. What you sometimes hear is that some people regard the lack of a real city center and a wealth of museums and historic buildings as a loss. Whoever needs that kind of sights can go to hundreds of other cities in the world. However, if you want to see a mix of modern architecture with traditional Arabic elements that together create a unique cosmopolitan atmosphere, you should definitely travel to Dubai.
