Hot air baloon ride deals from a luxury safari camp in Masai Mara. The Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara, is one of the small luxury safari camps in Kenya's masai Mara. The camp is situated in southern Kenya on the north-western border of the famed Masai Mara Reserve in the Koiyaki Lemek Conservation area. Set on the banks of the Mara River on a 66 acre piece of private land leased from a Maasai Landlord. With the impressive escarpment in front of the camp, and the great Mara plains behind the camp where the Mara river provides the focal point – the location is spectacular.
In the off-peak season between January and May 31, Karen Blixen Camp is offering free hot air balloon rides for all guest who book to stay for 3 nights or more. A balloon ride over the Mara normally costs about US$480 per person. That, in my view makes this offer a real big deal! Any guests considering a safari package to Karen Blixen luxury camp will enjoy this offer.
The hot air ballooning over the plains of Masai Mara in Kenya offers some of the most memorable experience on your African safaris. You wake up just before dawn and take a cup of coffee before driving to the launching site. You rise and float following the wind directions as your pilot controls the altitude levels - at times ascending to 1000 feet allowing you a unique perspective and a great opportunity for photography of the wildlife from above.
The flight is for about one hour depending on conditions, on landing you celebrate in the traditional manner with champagne, before you sit down to a full English breakfast prepared and served in the bush in 'Out of Africa' style. After breakfast you receive your Balloon certificate and drive you back to the camp with game viewing on the way back to the lodge for your other safari activities.
Besides the hot air balloon ride, Karen Blixen is also one of the relatively few Safari camps in Africa from where you can enjoy night game drives.
