If you’re planning a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina you’re in luck – there are a number of very fun, and exciting things to see, do, and enjoy.

Cheerwine is a drink that was first poured in 1917 and knows as the “nectar of North Carolina.”. A simple drive for a day trip to the company’s headquarters in Salisbury and you can try some of this yummy drink. If you visit on May 18, you’re able to take part in the Cheerwine Festival, the town's day-long celebration of the beloved drink. This is a unique drink for a unique city.
Ever played disc golf? This is not a question that most people would generally answer ‘yes’ to. Drive to Winthrop University and attempt to complete the school’s premier disc golf course. Similar to real golf, there are 18 holes, and this school has multiple courses. They range from beginner to one of the most difficult in all of the U.S. Every year U.S. Disc Golf Championships are held here. Who knows, you may just realize a newfound natural skill.
Only 30 miles west of Center City, Crowder’s Mountain State Park is an escape from the city scape and will entice even the most outdoorsy folk. Hiking, camping, fishing, rock climbing and canoeing are a few of the activities available here. Fish for your own lunch and cook it over the fire or bring a snack and take a hike. You can enjoy your food atop the summit and take in views of Charlotte.
Something many believe to be more of a West coast ideology in the United States are Organic farms and produce. At Wise Acres, you can pick your own organic produce! There are both a strawberry and pumpkin patch, as well as wood fired pizza, organic treats and more. For children there are wagon rides, a petting zoo and other seasonal activities.
For adventure lovers, there is a 250-acre called Rock Hill Outdoor Center. Although the center offers activities for both on the water, and on land, the main attraction would have to be the BMX Supercross track. They call this the Giordana Velodrome. There are racing options offered, or the ability to sit back and watch others race. This doesn’t take any true skill to try besides riding a bike and can be both thrilling and rewarding.
The U.S National Whitewater Center is the perfect place to experience some adrenaline in nature. They have watersports that cover all ages and skill levels. The Center is located on the Catawba River and offers beautiful, flat-water activities, such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding as well as fast paced whitewater rafting and intense single canoeing. Whether you make a drive out with your family, or even by yourself, there is something for everyone.
End your night with a Bring your own booze Comedy Tour, the catch, you are on a bus the entire ride. Drive around the city in a bus and be made to crack up laughing while enjoying your own booze, and the sites of the city center. This is a 2-hour journey and something that is not done in most cities. Enjoy the diverse group of comedians who grace the “stage,” of this unique comedy show.
