Bramhotsavams in Tirumala:
It may also be noticed that in the first bramhotsavams, there was an additional vahanam on the seventh day, a managala giri vahanam in between the morning surya prabha vahanam and the night's chandra prabha vahanam. It would appear as though the first day morning's pallaki procession lost has been made up in number here on the seventh day.
There is a variation on the ninth day. While there is choorna abhishekam in the evening, on the ninth day with the Lord with his consorts going to the swami pushkarini by pallaki, there were mire vahanams in the first Bramhotsavam the first being a pallak or andolikam and a second mangala giri vahanam which formed part of the choorna abhisekam as at present. In addition that night there was third vahanam in the first bramhotsavam. The practice that is being followed at present is that this bringing down the flag 'Dhwaja avarohanam' takes place on the next day, that is on the morning of the tenth day.
This pushpa yagam which was not being celebrated earlier was revived only recently some years.
