Kaza is the valley's largest township and commercial centre, situated along the Spiti River at an elevation of 3,650 metres (11,980 feet) above mean sea level. Kaza, a popular tourist and adventure destination, is also known for its colourful festivals and the ancient Sakya Tangyud Monastery, which is located 14 kilometres outside of town. And, because of its central location and access to the rest of the valley, Kaza is ideal for trekking, mountaineering, and tours to other parts of the valley (Connects via the Kunzum Pass with Leh-Manali Highways).
