A Twofer of Local Dining Favorites in Ocean City, Maryland

Savvy travelers know that the best restaurants are the ones where the locals eat.  So when the fam and I took an off-season trip to Ocean City, MD, the good folks at the Dunes Manor Hotel & Suites had two very appealing recommendations for us:  Embers Buffet and 28th Street Pit-n-Pub…

Top Dining in Chincoteague Island, VA: AJ's on the Creek and Woody's Beach BBQ

My fam and I enjoyed some fantastic meals during our visit to Chincoteague Island, VA in early August ‘16.  Two of the most memorable restaurants that we visited were AJ’s on the Creek and Woody's Beach BBQ - both of which generated mighty thumbs ups from the team at the superb Fairfield Inn & Suites, by Marriott.…

Baltimore’s Hotel RL: Community, Coolness, Incomparable Comfort

As a business owner with clients around the U.S., I occasionally hit the road for face-to-face confabs.  So when I needed to meet with a new client in Baltimore, I researched hotels in Charm City where I could stay while taking care of biz.

Given my affinity for hip boutique hotels, I checked out two popular…

Delaware's Stunning New Bethany Beach Ocean Suites

The fam and I wanted to make a weekend getaway to an awesome East Coast beachfront hotel, but we had a troika of conditions:

  • We wanted to stay in a laid back locale that was...
  • Outside of New Jersey (we live 12 miles west of New York City in the Garden State and we were pining for a non-Joisey Shore destination), and...
  • We didn’t want to spend too much time driving to get there.…

Cool Thrills at the Indoor/Outdoor Water Parks of the Poconos’ Camelback Resort

Summer in northern New Jersey can get pretty hot, sticky, and gross in late July, so the idea of a refreshing excursion to a nearby water park was greeted with thumbs-ups from my wife Sue, our teen son, and our tween daughter.

We had some choices:

  • Breakwater Beach in Seaside Heights, New Jersey (the locale of MTV’s Jersey…

Oakhurst Inn: Luxurious Boutique Hotel in Charlottesville, Virginia

For the third and final leg of my Southern business trip, I pulled in to charming Charlottesville, Virginia and was eager to sample one of the town’s premier lodging offerings.

While the popular Boar’s Head Inn, Omni Charlottesville Hotel, and Keswick Hall all seemed interesting, each – IMHO - had its downside (too big, way too big, too stodgy, respectively).…

The Superb Boutique Style of Atlanta's Independent Ellis Hotel

I had some business meetings scheduled in downtown Atlanta, and I wanted to find a top rated hotel in the area that offered character, class, and quality.

The Glenn, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection chain, promotes a boutique-ish vibe and looked appealing.  Ditto the upscale Courtyard by Marriott and swank Ritz Carlton.  While all were within walking…
