Jack’s Mountain Hawk Watch

Bird watchers have thrilled at the sight of soaring Bald & Golden Eagles, kettles of Broad-winged Hawks, lone Ospreys, American Kestrels, Peregrine Falcons, Red-tailed Hawks, Northern Harriers and more. Visitors will find easy access to the viewing area, just steps from the parking lot. You’ll be amazed at the number of birds of prey passing by overhead along the beautiful ridge tops of Jacks Mountain. While there, enjoy the view of two valleys, Ferguson Valley on one side of the overlook and Big Valley on the other.

During the month of March 2020, the Backstage Café’ at the Allen Theatre in Annville PA is featuring the art work of three local artists: John Roach, Nancy Schell & Diana Hoffman. John is a creative wood carver. He continually strives to improve and to express his feelings through the many different colors, grains, and densities of wood. Nancy considers herself a "realist" painter. My inspirations come from my gardens to countryside, from seascapes to National and International travels. My art is but an imitation of God's beautiful creations. Diana enjoys the interaction between abstract art and music. She states that “ I have often said that when I listen to music while painting, my hand becomes detached and develops a mind of its own as I get lost in the process of creating a work of art”. All three artists are members of the Hershey Area Art Association. For more information, check out hersheyart.org and www.allentheatre.com.

Celebrate the release of Carrie Jacobs’ debut novel Drunk on a Plane at Cupboard Maker Books on Sunday, March 15th from 1 to 3 PM. Author Jennifer Bonds will also be appearing with her books, and there will be cake for all attendees! About the book: “Those little bottles of airplane liquor add up fast. Eric Caretti discovers this while drowning his relief on the way to his destination wedding. Alone. Sort of. He hadn't counted on his cheating ex-bride-to-be's (bride-to-have-been's?) cousin being there to help get his drunk self to the cruise ship. Megan Prescott jumps at the chance to photograph her cousin’s cruise wedding. It's the perfect opportunity to build her travel portfolio… and put some distance between her and her anxious, controlling mother. The last thing she expects is to spend ten days at sea with her cousin's jilted groom. Megan and Eric reluctantly spend their days together, swimming with dolphins, exploring Mayan ruins, and becoming friends. Just friends. Because anything more would be inappropriate. Right?” Carrie Jacobs is the author of the romance Drunk on a Plane. Find out more about Carrie and her work at carriejacobsauthor.com Jennifer Bonds is the author of the Risky Business romance series. Find out more about Jennifer and her work at jenniferbonds.com Admission is free and open to the public.

Schooled by Philly's finest jazz glitterati, singer-songwriter Suzanne Cloud performs jazz classics and originals,"with a healthy dose of funk, dissonance, biting satire, and moral outrage"...Cloud's voice ranges from melodic oration and soulful wails to sultry moans and mockingly saccharine excess, effects aided by her powerful projection, smooth glissandi, and effortless ornamentation." (All About Jazz) She appears with Grammy award winner guitarist Tom Glenn and legendary bassist Tyrone Brown!

Someone paid attention to my Sept. 3rd petition against fall foliage starting to early: It's peaking in mid-October after all, just as it should. Here's a quick report from a fall foliage walk with my wife, dog, and camera.

We've made it to the top of this year's countdown of the best stadiums in Major League Baseball at The World on Wheels. Now sporting a marginally better team, Pittsburgh's PNC Park is even seeing a few sellouts. It's time to take an updated look at our pick for the best ballpark in the land: http://tinyurl.com/2g2xn8n

“The sad part with trends is where are our American food roots? Where is the sauerkraut with bacon in it? It seems America’s national cuisine is still space vegetables and processed foods.” Sous Chef Corey Scott

As long as we're in Pennsylvania, how about a different kind of sightseeing tour? Check out this stop just outside of Harrisburg: http://tinyurl.com/y6jxw5g
