Mambo magazine

I wanted to introduce Mambo magazine. Set to launch in June/July, this will be an online magazine for the Zanzibar archipelago. You can sign up on our holding page www.mambozanzibar.com to be informed when we launch (this is going to migrate to www.mambomagazine.com shortly), as well as following us on Facebook and Twitter, or find me on Linkedin: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/rachel-hamada/10/9b7/82a. I am attaching a copy of our mission statement so you can see the direction we are coming from.

Mambo will include in-depth features written by professional journalists; guides to everything from Swahili cuisine to spas, language to diving, roots tourism to Zanzibar for backpackers or luxury seekers, taarab to Zenji Flava; guides to the different destinations on the islands; multimedia; directories and forums.

We are always happy to have more contributors, so if you are a writer, broadcaster, photographer or video-maker then we are keen to hear from you, and we will also be looking for regular bloggers to write on specialist subjects, and forum experts to advise travellers to Zanzibar.

We are planning to recruit a sales professional, preferably someone with English and Kiswahili, a good understanding of the East African tourism market, Internet savvy and a polite and professional manner, but also driven. We are also looking for interns who want to get experience in the publishing industry, or who have a strong interest in history and research.

We look forward to promoting the islands internationally while hopefully boosting positive tourism.
