It's one of the most popular travel locations and there's a good reason for that! Amsterdam has something for everyone! From the beautiful old-world structures to the canals and local festivals. The art museums and galleries with original pieces of work. There's fun for everyone from families to newlyweds. The local cuisine is even amazing!

Van Gogh Museum
Of course it's going to be crowded, it's one of the most popular locations in Amsterdam. But that doesn't make it any less worth visiting. You'll see original pieces of all Van Gogh's artwork. It's a great opportunity to teach your children about the history of this particular artist. Or, take your loved one on an exotic tour of the canvases'.
Rijksmuseum
This museum showcases the works' of many famous artists, including Rembrandt. But, this museum doesn't have a focus on paintings on canvas. The art is far-reaching including sculptures and crafts. There's bound to be something to strike up a conversation among your travel companions.
The Jordaan area
There's nothing particularly special about this area. It's just an old-world neighborhood that overlooks the canal. The reason you might choose to walk through this area is simply to get a feel for "real Amsterdam". You'll experience life as a citizen, instead of a tourist. It gives your whole trip a more authentic feeling.
Tours
Now, in Amsterdam, there are canal tours down the river and walk-through tours of most of the bigger tourists attractions. But, if you ask me, the best way to experience Amsterdam is renting a bike and peddling through the town yourself. There's no better way to experience the city than to be in it. You rent one of these bikes at one location and can drop them off at a variety of other locations. This means you don't have to back-track your journey if you just want to keep going. It's a convenient way to travel. Most of Amsterdam citizens get around on bicycles.
Shopping
When it comes to buying souvenirs, go with the locally crafted Dutch antiques. Don't go for something that looks flashy. No sweaters with "Amsterdam" written on them. That doesn't really do the city much justice. You want to find something that is authentic to Amsterdam. They are world-renowned for their white and blue glass craft work.
Also, when you're making arrangements for your trip: Plan ahead. You can use websites to check out the maximum amount of vacation days that might be available to you. The interactive calendar uses local holidays and weekends to help you find the longest vacation you can take. From there, you should book your accommodations over at Airbnb.com. Trade hotel stays for a more authentic feeling, such as bed and breakfasts, even local homes. It's a much better way to experience the culture!
