- My wife Ann and I own and run Lone Kauri Lodge Karekare, a secluded B & B in the heart of the Waitakere Ranges an area of exceptional natural beauty within an hour from Auckland's city centre and airport where you will find black sand beaches (notably Karekare and Piha), regenerating rain forest, soe 250kms of walking tracks, stunning bush and coastal views and not too many people.
