I find twitter pretty overwhelming. So much to read, somehow I feel flooded with the result that I almost never bother to look at it.

Just goes to show - where there is a will there is a way. Greener, cleaner cities are better for people and for business.

Lise, I think that is a good idea - I have been thinking along similar lines, although it is very difficult to assess, a) what people say in a survey and what they actually do, and b) what in one country is part of the standard is a major innovation…

There are, several. Which makes it really confusing. Problem is, that certification is expensive, and very work intensive. Some small operators or hotels may not have the resources to put themselves through the process and so are automatically exclu…

Actually the whole debate about standards and certification is a huge debate. Everybody realizes that it is good business to appear green, these days. What that actually means can be hugely different from one country to the next, depending on what s…

From what I have heard, there is a lot of infrastructure damage in the Central Region between Valparaiso and Concepcion particularly. Roads damaged around Santiago too. Santiago Airport has been slightly damaged and as of yesterday was supposed to b…

There's tango and gauchos, of course. But there's also mucho más, che! The big-sky country of Patagonia, Mendoza wine country, skiing at Bariloche. And of course there's Buenos Aires, one of the world's great metropoli.

Still a little rough around the edges, but with superb diving/snorkeling (Roatán and Utila islands); the great Maya ruins of Copán; the afro-Caribbean culture of the Garifunas; and eco-tourism in La Ceiba and elsewhere.

I don't know about Playa Grande but I just read recently that there was a massive arribada, I think in Nicoya peninsula - I forgot the exact location, but probably still have the reference somewhere if I start digging. Maybe the turtles just went so…

It's truly remarkable how much this small Central American country packs in, from shimmering beaches to live volcanoes to mysterious cloud forests. Despite pockets of overdevelopment, it's still an eco-tourism wonder. As they say in CR, "pura vida!"

Heidi-ho! The country that's practically synonymous with banking, skiing, and breathtaking mountains also has great food, history, and culture. Furthermore, it's like visiting four countries in one: French, German, Italian, and Romansch.

Good afternoon, Kat, and welcome to Tripatini! Great to have you with us -- and we think you'll find our site productive as well as interesting and enjoyable.

To get the most out of us, you may want to take a moment to join several of our many other groups which you may find of particular interest, such as United Kingdom, Family Travel, Eating/Drinking the World, our German, French, and Spanish language/culture clubs, and plenty of others covering many topics and most destinations across the planet.

FYI, on your profile you'll see a green bar marked "Text Box," which you can turn into a box containing not just text but also photos and even videos about yourself, your travels, and Sacred Earth Travel.

Finally, if you would, please be so kind as to spread the word among your travel-interested friends, family, colleagues, associates, and clients. It's fast and easy to use our "INVITE" function above left on the navigation bar to enter e-mails (even your whole list at once!).

Thanks for joining us, Kat; we wish you an outstanding rest of 2009 and look forward to seeing you online.

Cheers!
