The Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Mitchell in Mitchell, South Dakota. One thousand years ago, a village of early Mandan Indians lived, farmed, fished and hunted along Firesteel Creek, which was later dammed to create the lake. The Village had about 100 mud and wood lodges. A replica of a lodge is in the museum today.
