Huayna Picchu, Young Mountain, is to the north of Machu Picchu, one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World. Huayna Picchu, at 2700 m, is an important part of Machu Picchu; it is located behind this great historical monument and it is the mountain that appears in most graphics and photos. Climbing the Huayna Picchu is full of adrenaline and a really exhausting experience due to the difficult access (about 45 min). Inka Trail to Machu Picchu. As remarkable as the Inka Trail highway system was in the days when it was built, used and maintained, the trail is an astounding testimony to the Inka’s construction that so many segments remain serviceable today, after half a millennium of neglect. Clearly the Inka highway system ranks as one of the greatest engineering achievements of pre-industrial man.

Not only had it great snow peaks looming above the clouds; gigantic precipices of many-coloured granite rising sheer for thousands of feet above the foaming, glistening, roaring rapids, Machu Picchu has also, in striking contrast, the delectable beauty of luxurious vegetation and the mysterious witchery of the jungle. One is drawn irresistibly onwards by ever-recurring surprises through a deep, winding gorge, turning and twisting past overhanging cliffs of incredible height.
