I take jazz fans and visitors of all stripes around to soak up Harlem's jazz history and current musical stomping grounds through my 14 year old tour company, Big Apple Jazz Tours.
I'm always looking for new places to take people and Harlem is changing all the time, so I propose starting a message board for those of us who are interested and in the know, to add our recent findings and comment on them.
For instance, there was an enormous build up to the opening of Red Rooster on Lenox and 126th Street last month. I stopped in to take a look and it was really gorgeous. I was late for an appointment so I didn't even stop for a drink. Has anyone tried the food? How was the service and the scene?
I also heard a rumor that St. Nick's Pub, one of my favorite jazz spots in the city, was closed, but the rumor turned out to be false. It would be great to have a forum here as well for places that are hitting financial hard times and are in need of support.
Peace,
Gordon Polatnick
