Just watched the video, Terry, and that is indeed a strange-tailed bird. Earlier this morning I got a good, long look at the red-tailed hawk that lives in Washington Square Park. Don't know if it's eating pigeons or rodents, but eat hearty, my friend.

Recently past the 1,000 birds worldwide list! Peanuts compared to some, but the goal is to enjoy the common birds as well as the rare ones. Great horned owl in Central Park, New York, recently, but my favourite so far anywhere has to be a Strange-tailed tyrant in the middle of nowhere in the Esteros de Iberá in Corrientes Province. Here is a video of this unique thing. It floats almost.

Two days ago I climbed up to the Jewish holdout of Massada, and as I did so I saw a v-formation of 30 Black storks flying over on its way to Africa. Pretty damn cool.

I can only agree with Evert about birding in Rwanda - simply great! I've also started the Rwanda Bird Atlas project where we'll try to collect as many records of sightings (linked to GPS co-ords) over the next 3 years so we can update the lists and distribution of birds in Rwanda. There will hopefully be a publication subsequently - follow the blog on Rwanda birds http://rwandabirdingguide.blogspot.com/

Also feel free to contact me about info on birding locations etc - I'm also a freelance birding guide based in Ruhengeri (Musanze), NW Rwanda

Rwanda is a country for those who love to do birdwatching.
It is a safe country, quiet, not to many tourists and numerous (rare) birds.
For more information you can go to:
