We know what dire conditions our planet is in, now we want to think about ways we can help:
Ways We Can Help
• Buy organic, or if possible, biodynamic. While this is certainly more expensive, think about it as an investment into your health and longer-term well being – pay now or pay later – in a dying planet.
o Why organic? Better for the earth
• Write letters to your political representatives telling them that you support spending more money on organics versus conventional agriculture, that you’re aware of how conventional agriculture is destroying our soil, etc
• Share with everyone what you learned here at the Finca regarding what’s happening to our rainforests, about all the species dying by the second, about the powers of ginger, tumeric, etc
• Recycle, reuse and reduce. Small things. Stop buying plastic bottles. When you go out to eat, bring your own Tupperware to take home left-overs with. Reuse shopping bags at the grocery store. Think about all the ways we create waste and how to reduce it.
• As one of our interns, Mimi, says: “Vote with your dollar” – shop at places that use sustainable practices and treat their employees well.
